About Michelle Ryan
Michelle Ryan has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She comes from a family of artists and craftspersons, who instilled in her a love for fine art, architecture and design at an early age.
Educated at Mount Holyoke College, with a BA in History and minor in Studio Art/Art History, Michelle began painting house portraits professionally in 1990, and worked for over a decade as a fine artist while she raised her three children.
She has completed more than 100 commissions, from house portraits to commissions of municipal buildings, churches, commercial buildings, still life paintings, plus pet portraits and charcoal children's portraits, too.
She is also a long-time Ashtanga yoga practitioner, teacher and studio owner; in 2009, she opened Ashtanga Yoga Northampton in Northampton, MA (now closed due to the COVID19 pandemic); she teaches traditional Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga and yoga therapy via Zoom, and outside at her home as of Spring 2021.
